Statement
Creativity is woven into the very fabric of my existence. It is my refuge and my connection to the world around me. So that others may see the beauty I see, I apply my keen sense of observation, curiosity, and intuition to all of my creative endeavors which has led me to careers as a science illustrator, medical illustrator, graphic designer, and fine artist.
I left Silicon Valley and these careers behind a few years ago when I moved to Sonoma County. In my creative practice I embrace the unique qualities of watercolor and oil paints, digital tools, and soft pastel to visually communicate the space I can see: the SoCo coastline and bluffs, landscapes, and incredible flora and fauna.
I use watercolor paints to convey detail and atmosphere, and with glazing I can produce bold images with backgrounds of depth. I wield oil paints and soft pastels to create dramatic images that incorporate a great deal of blending for soft transitions. And I employ digital tools to break down an image into simplified shapes to reveal its pure essence which challenges my natural inclinations toward complexity and perfection.
I envision a future where I can inspire dialogue and connection through my work, inviting others to join me in celebrating the beauty and complexity of our shared world. I hope to leave a lasting impact—evoking emotions, sparking curiosity, and nurturing a sense of community among those who encounter my art.
